ICEE are a large UK engineering business that operates across electrical, telecommunications and manufacturing sectors, with a real speciality in manufacturing and installing equipment enclosures. 

If this all sounds confusing, they are basically a big engineering firm that works in a lot of very impressive sectors. But this was the exact reason they came to us. 

They have a lot of high-end services to shout about, but communicating these in an easily understandable way is tricky. But if anyone was up to the task, it was the Glacé team (even though we say so ourselves).

The Project Brief

ICEE wanted to draw more focus towards two areas of their business. The bespoke metal enclosures they manufacture and install and their versatile manufacturing services, in particular waterjet cutting and laser profiling.

These three services needed to be communicated via short and snappy pieces of video content. The need here was to communicate the merits of these services in a different way from the classic corporate video style traditionally used in this industry. They needed video content fit for the digital age.

In practice, the deliverables would look like;

  • 1x Internet Enclosures Social Media Advert
  • 1x Waterjet Cutting Service Video
  • 1x Laser Profiling Service Video

How We Approached It

The videos were separated into two different styles. The waterjet and laser videos were going to follow the style of a product video. The the enclosures video would harness the power of animation paired with existing assets.

For waterjet cutting this involved submerging metal items cut using their water jet technology in a tank of water, capturing some standout underwater visuals set against a blue backdrop.

Then, in a similar way for the laser profiling, we filmed items cut out of metal using their laser profiling machinery in a dark and smokey set where red lasers bounced off the items. 

Instead of just showing the obvious manufacturing process, we were utilising the end product to produce a product-style video, not for a product but for a service.

The End
Result

The end results; three stand out videos produced in a new and unique style for the business. The animated enclosure video provided an effective short advert whilst the two service videos produced in the style of product videos brought some of the qualities of engaging B2C video marketing content to a more traditional industry.

All videos were utilised across the company’s social media channels, with web pages on their site also incorporating the content.

All videos were edited in various aspect ratios in order to be optimised across different social media platforms.
