Open Bionics are a technology company that produces bionic arms for below elbow amputees. They are working at the cutting edge of technological innovation in an area that is vastly improving many people’s lives.
For those whose lives it can positively impact, Open Bionics need to be really clear about all of the benefits and features of the technology they are producing.
Their brand needs to focus on clarity, highlighting the innovations they have developed in a way that shows off just how impressive and forward thinking the tech is.
The Project Brief
As part of a product launch campaign, their marketing team needed a suite of videos, each of which focusing in detail, on the physicality of the new products, their uses, as well as demonstrating examples of them being used.
They also required a video featuring all of the products to show off the full range in all its glory. This would require a vast selection of footage shot across multiple locations.
These videos would then be used within PR campaigns, on the website and across social media posts. The content needed to demonstrate the key features of the product and capture that all important clarity, whilst pumping plenty of energy into the videos.

How We Approached It
A key part of the videos was going to be showing off the physicality of the product in real detail.
Firstly, we spent the day in a studio demonstrating the tech being used in different conditions, recreating rain, water submersion, and sandstorms amongst others.
Then we needed real world examples of the products being worn and utilised. Various camera operators were commissioned across the world to spend the day with customers as they used the products in their day to day lives, farming, exercising and cooking.
As we hit the edit, we then combined the product video footage with the real-world footage, animated 3D product renders and high-intensity motion graphics to cut together a video that showed off everything about the product whilst communicating the key brand messaging in a highly engaging way.
The End
Result
A project that requires such a level of clarity and detail is as much of a planning project as it is an execution project.
As a result, we were able to demonstrate the usability of the products and highlight their many uses via real-world footage, draw attention to the design and physicality of the product via studio shot footage and communicate key pieces of information and brand messaging through high-intensity motion graphics.
This was a great example of various aspects of video production coming together in harmony to produce a set of videos ready for a bold product launch.
