Hive Bakehouse are an artisan bakery that have grown significantly over the space of a few years. As part of their business growth, it meant a new production site and a beautiful cafe on the high street.
Hive were keen to keep their customers informed of the changes whilst still making it clear that the core identity and ethos of the business was live and well.
With the world of beautiful pastries and baked goods being a very visual one, there is a lot to show off on camera. Pairing this with the passion and likability of the founder, we had the opportunity to produce some video content that captured the essence of where the business was at in a very endearing way.
The Project Brief
Via a series of videos, capture the story of the business so far and why the milestones they were hitting were so important, whilst also showing off the quality and attractiveness of their products and cafe.
The content needed to emphasise the independent nature of the business as well as how their focus on quality ingredients and production sets them apart from mass-produced alternatives. This needed to be suitable for a press release as well as highly engaging social media content.
This would then result in
- 1x Documentary-Style Brand Film
- 1x Social Media Announcement Video
- Multiple Social Media Teaser Videos
How We Approached It
Firstly, a documentary-style brand film. We needed a piece of video content to act as the central point of the story, sitting at the heart of a PR campaign.
The usual instinct would be to shoot a classic corporate video, where we capture a generic interview with the founder paired with some standard b roll of them chatting with staff, however, to capture a deeper level of emotion we needed to step further into the world of documentary filmmaking.
Then, for the social media content, a snappy, visual-first video giving a whistle-stop tour around the new cafe was the next step. This was all about impressing through visuals, with on-screen text communicating small nuggets of information along the way. This bright, minimalist style was less about the emotion behind the business and more about impressing the viewer with a glimpse into what they could expect as a customer.
The End
Result
Press coverage, a sea of social views and a business that had a bank of content that really encapsulated what they were all about.
Often businesses do one side of their promotion well, but neglect to consider that their brand is more than the product or service they offer; they are the people and the story behind them.
This selection of video content for Hive Bakehouse enabled them to capture press coverage through the unique style of the brand film, whilst growing an important marketing platform for them via the social media videos.
